Life Bible Fellowship Church began as a home Bible study in 1971 during the “Jesus Movement” sweeping through Southern California. Our founding pastor was Ray Schmautz, former linebacker for the Oakland Raiders. Due to Ray’s hectic schedule as a seminary student, we weren’t able to meet until 10 o’clock at night, and would often go until 1 in the morning.

But people kept coming to this small Bible study, and soon it wasn’t very small. We had to relocate to a larger facility—a refurbished chicken coop at the Houtz Egg Ranch in Alta Loma. We eventually moved again to Sweeten Hall, a condemned school building. We purchased our current property in 1977, which had initially served as a retreat center for Hollywood socialites. We worshipped for many years in the lodge (now The Garage), and then built our worship center in 1997.

For over 50 years, God has transformed families and the lives of people through the ministry here at LBF. We hope that as we celebrate this milestone with you during this season, not only will we look back on all He’s done to make a difference in your life but also what he’ll do next!
